Debra K. Carter

Born in 1956, Debra Kay Carter grew up in Cache Valley, minoring in Art at Utah State University. At age 13, she studied oil painting with a local artist from her home town, LaRose Reese. In college, she was a student of Harrison Groutage, and following her graduation, she has studied with Kent Wallis, Julie Rogers, Michael Bingham, Bonni McGowan, Colleen Howe, Lola Krummenacher, Kristi Grussendorf and most recently, Colley Whisson.

Debra taught school for 38 years and now that she is retired, she is able to work full time painting daily in her home studio that she shares with her artist husband, Donald Alan Carter. She paints in pastels primarily, as well as oils, acrylics, and watercolor. They experiment with painting collaboratively on the same piece and they enjoy painting outdoors together.
